About Us
Learn about our history, curriculum and our key person approach.
We use the Early Years Foundation Stage to underpin our curriculum to ensure that children make good progress.

About us
Our pre-school is run by a dedicated group of trustees and staff and was established in 2015 when the Children’s Centre closed. We are registered with Ofsted (EY490654) and currently hold a ‘Good’ judgement following our latest inspection in July 2023. We use the Early Years Foundation Stage to underpin our curriculum to ensure that children make good progress towards the Early Learning Goals.
We are based in a purpose built building at the rear of Catcliffe Primary School and benefit from a secure indoor and outdoor environment.

Our Curriculum
Our curriculum has been developed to ensure that all children have the same opportunities to access a wide range of activities and we strongly believe in learning through play and outdoor learning.
We are proud of our outdoor area which provides opportunities for gardening, wildlife observations, a mud kitchen, a bike track and much more. Through sensitive adult interactions, children learn and make progress, through their play.

Children are allocated a key person when they start at the Meadows Community Pre-School
Key Person Approach
Children are allocated a key person when they start at the Meadows Community Pre-school, who becomes the first point of contact for our families and is responsible for helping the children to transition into pre-school. Your child's key person will also maintain your child’s Learning Journey, recording observations and planning ‘next steps’ for your child’s learning.

Your child’s key person will record their observations using focus sheets and photographs.
Recording and Sharing Progress with Tapestry
We use a secure online system called Tapestry to record a child’s time at The Meadows Community Pre-school. Your child’s key person will record their observations using focus sheets and photographs which they will then upload to Tapestry. Parents can see these observations instantly and can let us know about the thing’s their child is doing at home.
Tapestry has proved to be very popular with our families who enjoy being able to see what their child has been doing at pre-school. It is also an excellent 2 way communications system between staff and families.
